In the past, the U.S. investment fund Cerberus was a major shareholder of Aozora Bank and was talked about due to it being the first time at a major Japanese bank that leadership came from an outside nation, but pursuing results in a

short period and company presidents often changed, so that there are many criticisms for such an irresponsible attitude.

In September 2012, Cerberus sold its shares, and after losing control of Cerberus for about nine years, the current president (Shinsuke Baba), who had been essentially a dyed in the wool bank employee, has taken the lead since then.
