Today I will talk about watching baseball games, which are indispensable for many Japanese people for spending their free time.
This is especially true for middle-aged and elderly Japanese that find it, blissful to watch baseball games while drinking beer on summer nights.
At the stadium, spectators cheer excitedly during a great play, or booing a player
who made a mistake・・・
Even if you have never been to a baseball stadium, you may have seen/heard someone who is crazy
about baseball broadcasts on TV or radio.
There are 12 professional baseball teams in Japan, and they play a round-robin game from late March to late September, with August being the final game to win the championship.
In Japan, most major cities across the country have a local based professional-baseball team which locals generally root and support.
On the other hand, there are some people that prefer to be different or like the opposite of what’s popular (actually I am such a person) which root for a different team. I think things that are not black and white are very interesting.
Of course, not all Japanese are passionate about baseball, and for those who don’t like it, sometimes along with baseball game broadcast going into overtime, people’s anticipated TV shows are delayed or canceled.
Similarly, for people who were not born and raised in Japan, they probably would not be interested
in Japanese professional baseball.
However, for some people, their feelings depend on if their supported team wins or loses, and considering such a thing is a matter of forward thinking for business negotiation and not simply a
matter of other people’s hobbies.
