With the spread of social networks, the interest in Japanese history and culture from people overseas is increasingly common, so today I would like to introduce “deep” parts of Japanese culture that are nostalgic for particular group of people in Japan but not yet known to those outside of Japan.
Deep=Something that can only be understood and felt by a particular group of people.
I went to the Eikichi Yazawa’s concert the other day.
He’s famous musician that is almost 69 years old and
a legend of Japanese rock music.
He also appears in commercials for Nissan Motor which I introduced as a high dividend stock the other day.
Legend=Someone who has a deep impact in a certain field and has left a great impression on others.
His music tends to be liked by what Japanese people call “yankee” or hooligans, and about 30 years ago when I went to his concert for the first time, the line of people going from the nearest station to the concert hall seemed like one big motorcycle gang meeting.
Yankee=A person in Japan with a “wild” and rough image. They are known to do things such as drinking freely and driving around on motorcycles.
Even now there are many enthusiastic fans that have supported him for many years-They have grown older just as he has.
At first glance he looks very wild, he’s actually very conscientious and sincere to his fans.
With the Tokyo Olympics just around corner, various countermeasures have been considered to prevent ticket scalpers, but Eikichi Yazawa, because he has many core fans, has already started acting to prevent such a problem.
Concert attendees need just to present a registered QR code on their smartphone, at the entrance to get into concerts.
Core=Someone or something that has not changed for many years.
It’s become tradition for the audience to start chanting “Ei-chan” before the show.
However, before the concert he warns his fans not to force others to do the Ei-chan call because he wants all fans to enjoy themselves and not feel any pressure.
